Fire Sales? You Must Be Kidding!

One problem with the internet is that it is so easy for something to become contagious. It can be a benefit, but can also be an irritation. It is not just viruses that can become contagious; it is any sort of marketing method or business opportunity "system", such as the doubler craze and now the proliferation of paid autosurf sites, luring people by offers of ever increasing daily % payouts.

Has your inbox been flooded with fire sales recently? The first I heard of such a thing on the internet was last year. Now, I am not one to get excited about sales. A sale means old stock, discontinued lines, or bought in junk to be sold at a profit but at a lower price than the store claims they had sold it before (which they hadn't). That is the connotation of sale to me; and I am not lured; I am not one of those who will queue up for 2 days to get into the New Year sales first. Ok, you may, once in a while, snap up a bargain in a store. But on the internet? Well, if you think so, that's fine, but if sale is mentioned, I bin the email. Sales are about yesterday's fashions and designs.

Fire Sale has even worse connotations to me. Some poor soul who has had their house burnt down, standing outside the charred remains trying to sell the few items they had salvaged, just so they had a few dollars to get bed for the night.

So the first fire sale on the internet made the instigator a lot of money; good for him. But now fire sales are popping up all over the place. Is there some cyber arsonist on the loose? Razing to the ground the offices of internet gurus and their followers so they have to have fire sales to feed their families a few crumbs? Some have had more than one fire sale, so is that arsonist a repeat offender, going back to the same premises again and again? Who knows? Who cares?

I just delete the emails.
