Will RSS Really Come of Age?
As a fan and user of Blogger, it is good to see that Google are looking at ways to improve Blogger over the coming months. They have been seeking experienced Bloggers to go in and tell them what improvements would be appreciated. That at least confirms that Google is looking at RSS and Blogging seriously for the future.
Will RSS eventually become mainstream? That remains to be seen. I continue to use it for 2 reasons: a. I like it; b. It could well become more widely used by "consumers", and it is advisable to be experienced and positioned for it.
How robust are the systems though? My first RSS feed was my main newsletter, Making Your Online Business More Profitable. That was chugging along ok on RSS, with hits mostly coming through My Yahoo. Then, about 4 weeks ago, the hits plummeted, and I noticed on my own My Yahoo subscription, that the weekly updates were not being picked up by Yahoo, despite pinging. After several attempts to find the reason, I have drawn a blank. Other feeds also coming from Quikonnex are being picked up as normal, so what is going on I really don't know. Maybe I'll have to switch that feed to Blogger.
